Upstream to Fingle Bridge and via the Hunters path to Castle Drogo. Downstream to Steps Bridge and Dunsford through the Dunsford Nature Reserve on the opposite river bank. Behind the lodge the path leads to a National Trust wildlife meadow or uphill to Cob Wood.

In the spring, daffodils fill the waterside meadows, swiftly followed by a carpet of bluebells and the scent of wild garlic. Summer brings clouds of butterflies and dragon flies and insect life common to upland river valleys.
